Verification of Nontax-Filing Status

2023-24 Academic Year

If you did not, will not, and were not required to file taxes for the income year specified on the FAFSA, you will need to request a Verification of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS.

Use the "Get Your Tax Record" feature at www.IRS.gov/transcript or mail/fax Form 4506-T to the IRS.

If you have attempted to obtain and are unable to obtain a Verification of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS (and you did not, will not, and were not required to file taxes for the income year specified on the FAFSA), please complete the appropriate form below and submit it to the WSU Office of Financial Aid.

2024-25 Academic Year

If you (or your parent/spouse) did not, will not, and were not required to file taxes for the income year specified on the FAFSA, you will need to complete the appropriate form below and submit it to the WSU Office of Financial Aid. If you had income, please also provide your W2’s or your Wage and Income Statement for the appropriate tax year. 


If you (or your parent/spouse) resided in a foreign country during the appropriate tax year and were not required to file a tax return with a tax authority other than the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), please provide a Verification of Non-Filing Status Letter from a relevant tax authority other than the IRS, dated on or after October 1, 2023. If you were unable to obtain a letter from the relevant tax authority, please complete the appropriate form below and submit it to the WSU Office of Financial Aid.
