Did your parents graduate from college? If no, this program is for you!
College is a time of change and challenges. Having a strong support system can make
a big difference in your success.
The F1RST STEPS program is designed to help first-generation college students succeed.
First-generation college students are individuals whose parents did not graduate from
a four-year university. This program will keep you linked to First Gen driven events
and initiatives all year and make sure you are able to stay connected to resources
meant to guide you in your college career.
Take the first step to ensure your success by joining us the Tuesday before classes
start by participating in our First Gen Field Day. Start your first semester of college
by getting together with other incoming first-generation college students for a day
of fun! This off campus fun-filled afternoon gives you a chance to meet other peers
to create connections and a sense of belonging and much more!
Almost half of our student population at Wichita State University identifies as first-generation.
We celebrate this first step in your journey and are here to support you every step
of the way.
