Gain the Wichita State home-team advantage

Only Wichita State combines a traditional college atmosphere with the unmatched resources of Kansas’ largest city for an education without limits. Discover how sticking close to home for college can take you further than you’ve ever dreamed.

Lots of friendly faces

Each year more than 300 graduates from USD 259 high schools enter Wichita State as freshmen. So, whether you're an Ace, Buffalo, Griffin, Grizzly, Pioneer, Titan or North High graduate, you're going to see some familiar friendly faces in classes, in our student center and at Shocker games!

Home (not far) away from home

If you're from one of the suburban schools surrounding Wichita, you'll find a lot of new Shockers - in fact about 300 or more new freshmen - who call Andover, Derby, Goddard, Haysville, Maize and Valley Center home.

Private and home school students, too

Each year more than 100 graduates from Bishop Carroll, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Sunrise Christian, Collegiate, Trinity and The Independent School start their career journeys at Wichita State.

Area students often find themselves on the winning side of the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational, but just a few years ago that couldn't have been more true. In 2023, our incoming Gore Scholar freshmen respectively hailed from Derby, Wichita North and Maize High Schools. Talk about a little local magic!
