Mechanical engineering is a broad-based discipline, used for design and analysis in such industries as manufacturing, aircraft and automotive, as well as consumer products and building equipment. The Department of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering at WSU offers a minor or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a master's degree in materials engineering or mechanical engineering and a doctorate in mechanical engineering.
Our Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, which means the curriculum has met rigorous benchmarks and goals, as has our graduate programs. Additionally, our department is committed to experience-based instruction and research, so students have the opportunity to engage in paid applied learning experiences and research with our faculty even as undergraduates. Graduates of our programs go on to design products and machines, as well as develop processes for manufacturing.
