About the Locker

Purpose and Services

Food Pantry:
- Objective: To provide students facing food insecurity with access to nutritious food and essentials.
- Types of Items Available: Non-perishable food items, canned goods, grains, pasta, and sometimes fresh produce depending on availability.
Baby and Hygiene Products:
- Objective: To support students with young children by providing essential baby products and personal hygiene items.
- Types of Items Available: Diapers, baby wipes, formula, and hygiene products like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste.
Career Clothing:
- Objective: To assist students in acquiring professional attire for job interviews, internships, and career-related events.
- Types of Items Available: Business suits, dress shirts, blouses, skirts, dress pants, and shoes.

Eligibility and Access

Eligibility: Students, faculty and staff are welcome to utilize the Shocker Support Locker. Individuals are eligible to take up to ten credits worth of items per week.
Access Process: The Shocker Support Locker will be operating on a new system called PlanStreet. Please visit the link below to fill out the application before utilizing the locker.

History of the Locker

The Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker was founded by the 58th session of the Student Government Association on November 4, 2015, to address a study that showed that 56% of Wichita State University students knew of at least one to three other students who faced food insecurity and 50% of students (67% of international students) admitted to skipping a meal because they could not afford to eat.

The Shocker Support Locker opened its doors on February 1, 2016 to all Wichita State University students, faculty and staff. The Shocker Support Locker gives students, faculty and staff access to food, clothing, toiletries, and baby/family products.

In 2025, the support locker was renamed to honor the legacy of Kiah Duggins, Class of 2017, who died in a 2025 plane crash in Washington D.C.

OUR MISSION

The Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker, through the ongoing generosity of the Wichita State community and community partners, seeks to empower Shockers along their journey at Wichita State University with temporary supplemental assistance. The Locker aims to alleviate food insecurity on campus and contribute to the overall health and wellbeing of our students, faculty, and staff by providing a variety of nutritional and functional resources to Shockers at no cost.

How to Contribute

Food Donations

Campus food drives can be held throughout the year, as needed, to keep the pantry stocked. However, we will accept food donations year-round. If you would like to donate items to the pantry, we kindly ask that you donate items that fall into our donation wish list categories. Donations can be dropped off in the Student Government Association office located in the Rhatigan Student Center, second floor, room 219.

Clothing Donations

To contribute to the Shocker Support Locker through clothing donations, you can drop off new or gently used professional attire, such as suits, shirts, blouses, skirts, and shoes. Please bring your donations to the Student Government Association office located in the Rhatigan Student Center, second floor, room 219.

Monetary Donations

Individuals wishing to make monetary donations to the Shocker Support Locker may do so by visiting our Wichita State Foundation and Alumni Engagement donation site. Enter your contribution amount and payment information.
