Chemistry Scholarships

The academic colleges of Wichita State award more than $2 million in scholarships annually. While the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences awards more than $600,000 in scholarships and fellowships, the chemistry department has scholarships available specifically for chemistry students.

Below, you will find a list of scholarships for undergraduate students and graduate assistantships/fellowships.

 

 

Undergraduate Scholarships

Alan & Sharon Fearey Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry - chemistry students
Charles and Nina Kirby Jones Scholarship in Biochemistry - field major in biochemistry students, essay required
Charles M. Buess Chemistry/Business Scholarship - chemistry students
Dr. & Mrs. Robert V. Christian & Dr. Robert V. Christian, Jr. Scholarship - entering freshmen majoring in chemistry
Fletcher-Mckinley Endowed Scholarship - chemistry students
Frank Clifford Malone Research Scholarship - full-time chemistry students doing research in organic chemistry
Jerry Cohlmia LAS/Chemistry Scholarship - chemistry students
The E. W. "Pete" Armstrong Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry - chemistry students, junior standing with at least 20 hours of chemistry, minimum 3.25 GPA
W. Mack Barlow Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry - chemistry students

 

Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships

Graduate teaching assistantships are available to qualified students and are awarded primarily on the basis of a student’s academic record, potential as a degree candidate and teaching or research activities. Faculty members may support students in their research groups through research grants. The department is committed to supporting Master of Science students for up to two years and Ph.D. students for up to five years as they pursue completion of degree requirements. Satisfactory performance ensures continuing annual financial support.

Dr. Erach Talaty Endowed Fellowship in Chemistry - first-year Ph.D. chemistry students, minimum 3.5 GPA
Gene Zaid Graduate Fellowship In Chemistry - chemistry graduate students, minimum 3.25 GPA
Jerry B. Cohlmia Fellowship in Chemistry - full-time chemistry graduate students
Watkins Foundation Fellowships for Teachers of Science - full-time chemistry teachers

 

After formal admission to the graduate degree program at Wichita State, chemistry graduate students may apply for an assistantship or fellowship by submitting an application to:
