Michael J. Palmiotto, Ph.D. is a retired professor of Criminal Justice in the School of Criminal Justice. He is a former police officer in New York State and has experience in establishing and operating a Police Training facility. He has a master's degree from John Jay College (CUNY) and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Palmiotto has ten books published, numerous book chapters, and articles on policing and criminal justice. Books published by Dr. Palmiotto include Policing Training Issues, Community Policing, Police Misconduct, and Criminal Investigation. Professor Palmiotto has published numerous manuscripts on topics that include human rights, policing, community policing, police training, homicide, and crime statistics. He has taught a wide variety of criminal justice and policing courses such as Community Police, Crime Prevention, Criminal Investigation and Police Misconduct. Professor Palmiotto is a member of the following professional organizations: International Police Executive Symposium, Police Executive Research Forum, Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Dr. Palmiotto is also a two-time Fulbright award winners.
