- Creating a VPN Session is NOT required for several WSU Applications. For example the following DO NOT require VPN: Blackboard, myWSU, Skype, TEAMs, Microsoft Office 365, Employee Dashboard, Reporting Services, and WSU Reporting.
- VPN Session is REQUIRED for the following: access a work computer located on campus, online Avaya Voicemail access, WSU shared drives, and Banner 9 (PROD).
Please Note: If you have not used Remote Desktop previously, your work computer must be set up to connect remotely. Windows Off Campus PC: VPN Setup & Access
Download and install VPN
- From myWSU > Faculty Staff page, click on VPN Download
- Read information provided, check ‘I agree’ box and click continue
- Click on the https://vpn.wichita.edu link to automatically install VPN Download
- Enter your myWSU ID and Password
- Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client will automatically download
- If the download is unsuccessful, click the install link to download manually
- If the download is unsuccessful, click the install link to download manually
- Click Run to download software and continue to follow download instructions until program is completely installed
Accessing & Configuring VPN
- The Icon will appear in the taskbar notification area in the bottom right of the screen.
- If the icon is not visible, Click the arrow icon to display notification icons that
are hidden
- If the icon is not visible, Click the arrow icon to display notification icons that
are hidden
- Click on Cisco icon to run VPN
- If VPN was not automatically configured during installation, enter vpn.wichita.edu
Click Connect - Enter WSU ID and Password and click OK
- VPN will be activated.
- Click on the link to deactivate once remote session is complete.
- Click the Cisco VPN Icon and press Disconnect.
- Click the Cisco VPN Icon and press Disconnect.
