Don't Cancel That Class
Don't Cancel That Class is a program which provides the option for Wichita State faculty to request a Success Skills presentation to be given during a regularly scheduled class period instead of canceling the class. One week advanced notice preferred. All presentations last approximately one hour.
Presentations currently available:
- Becoming a Sophisticated Learner: covers the topics of how human memory is different from man-made recordings, creating desirable difficulties during studying to promote long-term retention of the material, and recognizing biases which trick students into quitting their studying too soon.
- General Study Skills: covers topics such as when, where, and how to study most effectively using information backed by peer-reviewed cognitive science. Also includes tips and memory tricks such as mnemonics, the method of loci, chunking, and associative state memory.
