MSW Students

Advising

Students are assigned an advisor upon admission to the program. The student is required to work with their advisor to complete a Plan of Study, which outlines their courses for the duration of the program. 

Plan of Study

Masters students will complete a Plan of Study and submit it to their advisor for approval. The plan of study outlines the projected courses that a student will take during their admission in the program.

MSW foundation students are required to complete at least 200 clock hours per semester (total 400 clock hours over two semesters). MSW advanced generalist students are required to complete a minimum of 300 clock hours per semester (600 hours over two semesters).

Graduate Assistantships

The School of Social Work offers graduate assistant positions to students within the program. Graduate assistant positions are for 10, 16 or 20 hours per week. The number of assistants and the hours they will work depends on the funding we receive and can vary from year to year.

Various positions may be available, potentially Graduate Staff Assistant, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Research Assistant.

Applications are to be sent by mid-May for the fall semester.
