What is a strategic plan?
Strategic planning is a process that engages a community in determining desired outcomes. A strategic plan is important because it identifies who we are and why we exist (mission), where we want to go and what we want to be (vision), and what we believe and what is important to us (values).
A strategic plan is a living, breathing document that drives all of an organization's efforts. It provides a mechanism against which progress on specific goals can be evaluated. Without a strategic plan, an organization's efforts drift around with little focus, or worse yet, misguided focus. A strategic plan provides a blueprint that moves us forward.
