The center of culture in Kansas

WSU students are a huge part of the Wichita's reputation as a regional cultural and entertainment center.

Wichita provides a unique environment in which to create, perform and consume art of all types. The city has a collaborative spirit that allows artists, musicians, thespians and playwrights to do amazing things on campus and in the community.

Foodies rejoice

Wichita has an incredible spectrum of restaurants, brewpubs, food trucks and coffeehouses. It's what caused Livability.com to name Wichita among its Top 10 Surprising Foodie Cities. There's even a Food Truck Plaza on campus with fine cuisine on the move five days a week.

Arts and culture

From national acts performing at Wichita's 20,000-seat downtown arena to a thriving local arts and music scene—there is always something happening. Just walking on our campus exposes you to one the nation's top outdoor sculpture collections.

Visual Arts

Galleries and restaurants all over town display work from local artists – including WSU students and professors. The Wichita Art Museum downtown, WSU's Shift Space gallery, Mark Arts and Wichita City Arts are just a few of the many galleries across the city. On campus, just walking out the door exposes you to one the nation's top outdoor sculpture collections, the Ulrich Museum of Art's Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture collection.

The Museum District

Wichita's Museum District, situated along the Arkansas River, has world-class art, culture and science museums like the Wichita Art Museum, Mid-America All-Indian Center and Exploration Place. Wichita is also home to Museum of World Treasures, Wichita Aviation Museum and, on campus, the Holmes Museum of Anthropology.
