Grand opening is set for River Vista’s Boats and Bikes

A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held for Boats and Bikes at River Vista, a retail watercraft and bicycle rental facility – from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at 150 N. McLean Blvd.

The community and media are welcome to attend. Attendees may park on the upper level of the River Vista parking garage, accessible via the north entrance to the property. The entrance to Boats and Bikes is on the river level of the River Vista Complex.

Boats and Bikes is based out of River Vista and is a partnership between River Vista’s development group and Wichita State University, which ties in with Shocker Rowing’s new boathouse.

Rentals and event hosting will be the core of the venture, which will provide the public with new and diverse options for activities and programming. Both water and land equipment rentals are available as well as venue rentals for a variety of event/activity types. Branded merchandise and refreshments are also available for purchase. A percentage of the net profits go directly to support Shocker Rowing, which is supported by Campus Recreation.

“We could not be more proud to be part of the downtown renaissance and to be leading the charge to activate the river for our community,” says Calvin Cupp, head coach of Shocker Rowing. “We look forward to being a part of this exciting expansion and development for our community. Whether it is directly with Shocker Rowing or a Boats and Bikes venture, we are positioned to be a central part of the future on our river.”
