Wichita HomeSchool won both the BEST Award and the Head-to-Head Robot Performance event at the 2021 Kansas BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science & Technology) competition Nov. 20 at Wichita State University.
The annual Kansas BEST competition is designed to inspire and motivate students toward careers in engineering, science and technology. This year’s game was titled “Demo Daze,” and the theme was demolition with an emphasis on safety and sustainability.
Five of the top competitors from the competition qualified for the regional championship in Denver, Dec. 11-12.
Accompanying Wichita HomeSchool will be:
- Garden City High School: 2nd place BEST Award
- Valley Center High School: 2nd place Robot Performance
- Salina South High School: 3rd place Robot Performance
- Rose Hill High School: semi-finalist in Robot Performance
The BEST Award is based on a project notebook, oral presentation, table display and interviews, in addition to the robot head-to-head competition. The Robot Performance Award is based on the project notebook, a Critical Design Review and the points scored in the robot head-to-head competition.
