Media invited to commencement events at Wichita State

Wichita State University will hold several events celebrating the graduating class of 2023. Media are welcome to attend all events. 

Commencement Cruise, 3 p.m. Friday, May 12, is a pre-commencement celebratory walking parade featuring decorated vehicles for each college and groups of graduates following behind on foot. They will walk from the west side of Wichita State’s main campus near Charles Koch Arena up to Braeburn Square at 21st Street and Mike Oatman Drive. 

The Toast, 5 p.m. Friday, May 12, in the Heskett Center, is a chance for students and their guests to celebrate their dedication to earning a degree at Wichita State. Attending graduates will receive a commemorative a WSU champagne flute following a brief presentation. 

125th Spring Commencement Ceremonies, Saturday, May 13, in Charles Koch Arena. More than 2,200 students are eligible to participate in spring commencement. Undergraduate and graduate degrees will be conferred at the following ceremonies: 

  • Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Fine Arts, Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College, and College of Innovation and Design: Ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Guest speaker — Judge Scott W. Stucky, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces
  • College of Applied Studies, and College of Health Professions: Ceremony begins at 1 p.m. Guest speaker — Mark Finucane, managing director, Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Industry Group 
  • W. Frank Barton School of Business, and College of Engineering: Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Guest speaker — Maria Cardwell, national director of Vehicle Engineering, Northrup Grumman
