Wichita State has released a planning document in response to a request from the Kansas Board of Regents in the event that budget reductions are necessary. In June, the governor asked the Regents to plan to spend fewer funds than budgeted for FY2009. In July, the state budget director asked that the Regents also plan for a reduced budget in FY2010. Wichita State was asked to begin planning for a possible 2 percent budget reduction this current fiscal year and a potential additional 5 percent budget reduction for FY2010. The university is preparing for future directives from the Board of Regents.
