KMUW program to salute two music giants

In the past week, two music giants passed away -- singer, songwriter, producer and Grammy and Oscar winner Isaac Hayes, best known for his "Theme from Shaft;" and producer Jerry Wexler, who helped shape American R&B in his work with Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles and a host of others. KMUW FM89 will present a special two-hour salute to both men, produced by Chris Heim, host of KMUW's nightly world and roots show, Global Village, and the Sunday blues and soul show, Crossroads, on KMUW HD2. The tributes will air from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, on KMUW and www.kmuw.org.
