"Calling the Game" is the title of a WSU Distinguished Alumni Speakers Series event featuring veteran sportscaster Gary Bender at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Marcus Welcome Center. Bender has covered 29 different sports, including pro football and college basketball, for several major networks, and won three Emmy Awards. He also is author of "Call of the Game," a book about what really goes on in the broadcasting booth. On Oct. 5, he will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
