* "Aging on the Plains" convenes at noon today (Wednesday, Sept. 24) at the Broadview Hotel, Crystal Ballroom. The conference, sponsored by the WSU Regional Institute on Aging, will explore the challenges of an aging population in the plains states. * Jens Kreinath, anthropology, will give a talk for the Fall 2008 Colloquium Series titled "Gregory Bateson on Framing: Play and Ritual" at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept 24) in 117 Neff Hall.

* Christopher Howell, author of the poetry collection "Light's Ladder," and a two-time fellow at the National Endowment of the Arts, will give a reading at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd. The free event is co-sponsored by the WSU English department.

* The Heskett Center offers children's programs, including American Red Cross swimming lessons and gymnastics Saturdays mornings from Sept. 27-Nov. 8. For more information, call Vanessa at 978-5311.

* The Kansas Health Policy Authority from Topeka will host a medical insurance informational meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Great Plains Room, 215-218 Rhatigan Student Center. All benefits-eligible employees are urged to attend this meeting to better understand the new options and changes that will be offered for 2009.
