Special invitation to see the wind tunnel at WSU

Wichita State is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the wind tunnel with a public open house from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.

Prior to the open house, the media are invited for an up close and personal showing of the Walter H. Beech Memorial Wind Tunnel. Individual appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 7-9. To schedule an appointment, call John Laffen, director of the NIAR aerodynamic laboratories, 978-5481 or john.laffen@wichita.edu.

Since its initial construction in 1948, the primary purpose of the Walter H. Beech Memorial Wind Tunnel has remained the same: to meet the needs of local aviation research. Today the tunnel at WSU is still a state-of-the art facility serving clients nationwide in aviation and other industries.
