Kim Peek, the inspiration for "The Rain Man," and his father Fran will give a presentation on autism and savant syndrome at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in 127 Jabara Hall, followed by a reception in 441 Jabara Hall. The Peeks will discuss Kim's extraordinary abilities in more than a dozen areas, including literature, sports, history and music, his ability to read the right and left pages of books simultaneously, and his amazing ability to remember almost everything he reads. In spite of Kim's enormous abilities, he cannot perform many simple tasks without the help of his father.
