In its first year at Wichita State University, the Kansas Procurement Technical Center (PTAC) assisted local businesses in securing more than 300 government contracts worth more than $16 million.

The center, which has branches at the city of Wichita and at Johnson County Community College, reported a $25.6:1 return on investment. The center assists businesses with securing government contracts through services including daily bid-matching, bid preparation assistance, consulting on specification and standards, vendor registration and certification, procurement price history and training seminars.

Kansas PTAC employs a staff of six including deputy program director Scott Knapp, who worked with several businesses including Business Technology Career Opportunities (BTCO).

“Scott is highly responsive and shows a genuine interest in learning enough about my company so he can provide valuable, timely information in support of business development activities,” said Liz Karp, director of business development at BTCO.

The Kansas PTAC worked with almost 400 additional businesses last year including Engstrom’s Welding & Machine, Saicon Consultants and Dayspring Electric.
