Wichita State to host Dental Day for high school students

Wichita State University’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program is hosting its annual Dental Day Friday, June 20, at the Delta Dental of Kansas WSU-AEGD Clinic, 2838 N. Oliver. The event will provide high school juniors and seniors hands-on experience in dentistry and dental hygiene.

This year, 31 students will attend from all over Kansas, including Salina, Great Bend, Topeka, Hillsboro and Kansas City. They will have the opportunity to see what it’s like to work in dentistry by learning to take impressions, x-rays and actually drill on teeth.

There is no cost for the students to attend. Parents are invited to attend a Q&A session during the last hour of the event to learn about pre-dental studies, the process of applying to dental school and how to apply to the dental hygiene program at Wichita State.

The AEGD program at WSU is the only post-doctoral dental residency program in Kansas. Each June, it hosts Dental Day to encourage young people to pursue a career in dentistry in their home state of Kansas.
