Bongo beats, poetry and jazz celebrate Ulrich's Fall Opening

Bongo beats, poetry, berets and notes of jazz are a few of the things you might find at Wichita State University’s Ulrich Museum of Art’s biggest party of the year, the Fall Opening Reception, from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.

The reception is open to the public, and will celebrate the works of native Kansas artist Bruce Conner, Ulrich Underground installation artist Lisa Solomon, and feature a permanent collection exhibition examining the museum’s opening year, 1974.

Guests will be able to try their hand at the artist-inspired Art Lab and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and complimentary beverages inspired by the Beat Generation.

Cost to attend the event is $10 for the public and free for Ulrich members and Wichita State students with their Shocker ID. To RSVP or for more information, call 316-978-3664 or email ulrich@wichita.edu.
