Second Wichita State Day at the K attracts 2,000 WSU fans

More than 2,000 Wichita State University fans flooded Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium Saturday, Sept. 5, lining up hours in advance for the second annual "Wichita State Day at the K."

The event was a promotion for the Kansas City Royals in collaboration with WSU’s Office of Admissions, and specially designed Royals/Shocker themed baseball caps were given to attendees.

WuShock arrived dressed in a custom Royals baseball jersey and threw out the first pitch to the Royals’ mascot, Sluggerrr, before the Royals’ game with the Chicago White Sox.

To show support for WSU, the Royals displayed unique facts about the university on the scoreboard throughout the game. These facts ranged from WSU being the most diverse university in Kansas, to the many national championships the bowling team has won.

Additional information about the university was available at booths set up by the Office of Admissions and the Alumni Association.
