Wichita State University has been ranked No. 7 in a listing of the "50 Most Affordable Urban Schools for Sport Management 2015" by Sport Management Degree Guide, an education and career resources website.

The ranking is based on information collected from the National Center for Education Statistics College Navigator and researched 158 schools offering four-year bachelor’s degrees in sport and/or fitness administration/management and located in an urban or city setting. Wichita State was the only Kansas university to make the ranking.

"Both our students and practitioner partners make the most out of a productive relationship centering on the urban, educational environment. While we have a regional, national and international reach with our programs and graduates, many of the core skills they develop are made possible by the dynamic learning environment provided by our university’s location."

WSU’s Bachelor of Arts in sport management and Master of Education in sport management prepare students for careers in the management of sport organizations, sport marketing and sport entertainment. Wichita State is one of the few institutions worldwide offering sport management degrees that have received accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). 

The Department of Sport Management, part of WSU's College of Education, places students in internships that provide real-life experience with local, regional, national and international sports and fitness organizations, including the National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, National Football League, Major League Baseball, Professional Golfers' Association and Major League Soccer.
