WSU's Center for Entrepreneurship hosts makerspace forum

Wichita State University's Center for Entrepreneurship will host its fall 2015 Entrepreneurship Forum from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at Wichita State University's Devlin Hall, Room 107.

“The MakerSpace Revolution,” moderated by Cindy Claycomb, director of WSU Ventures, will cover the topic of creating a collaborative culture in Kansas through makerspace locations. A makerspace provides a place where people with common interests can meet, collaborate and share resources and knowledge, building a community at the intersection of art, technology, science and culture.

This event is free and open to the public, offering students and community members the opportunity to engage with accomplished entrepreneurs. Panelists include Paul Adams, Dominic Canare and Nathan Towle, who represent a range of business expertise.

Adams is a professor of physics and the creator of the Fort Hays State University Science and Mathmatics Education Institute, which is active in improving STEM education in Kansas. He is the dean of FHSU’s College of Education and Technology.

Canare, president and founding member of MakeICT, graduated from WSU and is furthering his studies in human factors psychology.

Towle is the supervisor of the Educational Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas (ESSDACK) makerspace in Hutchinson. He studied art at Hutchinson Community College and taught himself 3D design software, programming and printing.

A reception will be held following the forum.
