Spring Welcomefest provides opportunities for students to engage

Wichita State University will provide students with a variety of ways to reengage on campus with spring Welcomefest events, which run Jan. 19-29.

The events provide an inexpensive way for students to learn about the variety of resources available to them at WSU. The beginning of the semester typically has a smaller workload for students, giving them time to get out of the classroom and experience all that WSU has to offer.

This semester’s Welcomefest events include:

  • Live Band Karaoke – 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, RSC 1st floor
  • Welcome tables – 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, RSC 1st floor
  • RSC Unplugged: Run With It – 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, RSC Fast Break Lounge
  • Thirsty Thursday – 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, Hubbard Hall south patio
  • Jonathan Burns: Flexible Comedy – 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, CAC Theater
  • WSU Night at the Wichita Thunder – 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, Intrust Bank Arena
  • Adult Learner and Family Social – 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes
  • Shox Up for Game Day – 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, Koch Arena south entrance
  • Welcome Home Spring Open House – 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, RSC 208
  • Springfest – 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, Heskett Center
  • Breakout Bingo – 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, RSC 2nd floor

The Student Activities Council hosts many of the Welcomefest events, but student groups and other departments get involved as well.

The fun activities provide balance and community for students as they begin another semester at WSU.
