Auction seeks to fund study abroad program for voice and opera students

Wichita State University's voice and opera program will host its annual "Canta in Italia" (Sing in Italy) scholarship fundraising party from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at The Ville in Andover, 123 Andover Road.

Italian dinner, wine and music will accompany the silent auction, with a special performance by Samuel Ramey, internationally renowned opera star. The benefits of the auction will go toward funding for students to study in Tuscany while honing their singing technique and language skills.

Highlights of the auction include:

  • One week in a three-bedroom ski condo near Silverthorne, Colorado
  • Karg Art glass pieces
  • A framed Ronald Christ painting
  • A copy of Sam Ramey’s book, personally inscribed to the winner
  • Premium Italian wines
  • An authentic Italian dinner for eight with Ramey

Tickets for the event are $70, with $55 being tax deductible. To reserve tickets, call Marie King at 316-978-6373. Checks should be made out to the WSU Foundation with “Voice Study Abroad” in the memo line. To learn more about the fundraiser, go to http://wichita.edu/cantainitalia.
