Wichita State University has appointed Natasha M. Stephens as Title IX coordinator.

The university restructured the Title IX role within the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity in compliance with federal regulations.

Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that requires gender equity for men and women in every educational program that receives federal funding.

Stephens reports to WSU President John Bardo.

She brings with her a wealth of experience from her work in student affairs, judicial affairs, Title IX, retention and academic initiatives and civic engagement from colleges in Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

In her role as Title IX coordinator, Stephens will work to increase awareness of and compliance with Title IX regulations. In addition to her duties as Title IX coordinator, she has been appointed to the President’s Diversity Council.

Stephens earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master’s in higher education/educational leadership from Old Dominion University.

She received her Ph.D. in educational studies, with a specialization in educational leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
