Get to know your 2016 Homecoming candidates/winners

Eight Wichita State students were nominated as 2016 Homecoming queen and king, with the final winners being Whitney Wilson and Tim Eichler. But all the candidates are outstanding examples of what it means to be a Shocker. 

Queen candidates:

Brittany de Hoyos is majoring in criminal justice. Her dream career is to be an attorney in international affairs and foreign policy. She is part of the Pre-Law Student Association, Golden Key Honor Society and the Criminal Justice Student Organization.

Ashlyn Funston is majoring in integrated marketing communications. Her favorite thing about the WSU campus is going to Shocker basketball games. If she could meet anyone in the world, it would be the rapper Drake, because, as she says, "I love him.”

Maha Madi is majoring in psychology. Her favorite place on campus is the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and she loves the endless opportunities for learning outside of the classroom.

Whitney Wilson is majoring in dental hygiene. Her dream career would be to work for an oral health nonprofit organization that provides and advocates for access to care for high-risk populations. On the side she wants to own a small water buffalo farm and produce cheese from their milk.

King candidates:

Tim Eichler is majoring in aerospace engineering. If he could meet anyone in the world, it would be his favorite Kansas City Royals player, Lorenzo Cain. His favorite place on campus is the Heskett Center.

Dalton Glasscock is majoring in business management and political science. His dream career would be to work for an international ministry or a nonprofit centered on combatting human trafficking and modern day slavery.

Michael Schultz is majoring in finance/marketing. He would love to meet comedian Amy Schumer because he thinks she is hilarious. His favorite place on campus is the Rhatigan Student Center.

Ben Varenhorst is majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology. His dream career is to be a lawyer, and his favorite spot on campus is Taco Bell in the Rhatigan Student Center.
