Dental program at WSU to host 5th Annual Dental Day

Each June, the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Wichita State University hosts Dental Day, a one-day event for high school students considering a career in dentistry, encouraging young people to pursue a career in dentistry in Kansas.

From 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, the program will host its 5th Annual Dental Day at the Delta Dental of Kansas WSU AEGD Clinic (2838 N. Oliver). This hands-on program provides students the opportunity to take impressions and molds of their teeth, learn about radiology and practice scaling and drilling on teeth.

Each year has seen an increase in participation with students from across the state. AEGD faculty and residents, as well as faculty and graduates from the WSU Dental Hygiene program, will provide instruction and mentorship. Parents are encouraged to attend a Q&A session the last hour of the day regarding pre-dental studies, how to apply to dental school and how to apply to the dental hygiene program at Wichita State.

Registration is open and online at www.wichita.edu/dentalday. The cost is $15 per student and the deadline is May 20. Registration is limited to 30 students. This year’s event is sponsored by Henry Schein Dental Supply.
