The Kansas Council for Economic Education (KCEE), hosted by Wichita State's W. Frank Barton School of Business, has received a $3,500 grant from Westar Energy.

The KCEE will use the grant for its economic and financial literacy programs for K-12 students throughout Kansas.

The grant check, which will help with general funding, was presented after a recent meeting of the KCEE’s board of directors.

KCEE’s funding provides curriculum resources, teacher training and programs and competitions that engage students through experiential learning and practical applications of knowledge. Programs and competitions include The Stock Market Game, LifeSmarts, Financial Foundations for Kids, the Kansas Economics Challenge, the Kansas Personal Finance Challenge and the Economics Poster Contest.

KCEE, a nonprofit that is affiliated with all of Kansas’ six public universities, strives to increase the economic and financial literacy of K-12 students. The group reaches more than 100,000 students through more than 1,000 teachers each year.
