Wichita State University's Elliott School of Communication has named Kylie Cameron as this year's winner of the Victor Murdock journalism scholarship.

The winner is selected by journalism faculty on the basis of demonstrated writing ability and experience creating media, including video, websites and photos.

Cameron will graduate from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, where she participated as a writer and photographer for the yearbook and newspaper. She plans to study journalism and political science at WSU before attending law school, but she believes journalism is her true calling.

“I want to pursue a career in journalism not only to tell stories, but to tell the stories of people and things that cannot be heard,” said Cameron. “I want to teach everyone who has read my stories as much as journalism has taught me."
