AEGD program welcomes new residents from Midwest dental schools

  • Wichita State's six dental residents for the 2016-17 AEGD residency are all from Midwest dental schools.

The Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Wichita State has six new residents in their 2016-17 resident class. This group of residents are all from Midwest dental schools and will be in the AEGD postdoctoral program for one year.

Two residents are graduates of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and the program welcomes the first recruits from the dental schools of Marquette University, University of Iowa and Midwestern University-Illinois.

The new residents are: Dr. Parth Patel (Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine-Illinois); Dr. Daniel Sucher (University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry); Dr. Kelli Steinlage (University of Iowa School of Dentistry); Dr. Emily Ruthven (Marquette University School of Dentistry); Dr. Daniel Cepeda (Marquette University School of Dentistry); and Dr. Richie Gallant (University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry).

WSU started the AEGD program and Delta Dental of Kansas clinic in 2011 to expand dentistry education in Kansas. The program provides dentists with advanced comprehensive clinical experience and is designed to prepare them for private practice. AEGD is the only dental residency program in Kansas. Since its inception, nine residents have remained in Kansas to practice dentistry.

 

The AEGD clinic is open to the public and accepting new patients.

 

The clinic allows Wichita-area patients to receive high-quality care at reasonable rates from licensed dental residents and seasoned faculty members. The clinic is open to the public and accepting new patients.

A 15 percent discount is provided for WSU students with a valid Shocker ID. WSU employees can pay for major dental services through payroll deduction.

Clinic services include: dental checkups, emergency care, root canals, extractions, gum disease treatment, implants, crowns, bridges, fillings, dentures, tooth whitening/bleaching, preventive care, bonding/veneers and cosmetic dentistry.

The clinic is in-network provider for five dental insurances: Delta Dental, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MetLife and Cigna. Business hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with appointments beginning at 9 a.m.
