Kaye Monk-Morgan to join Fairmount College Dean's Office

  • Kaye Monk-Morgan will soon become assistant dean for students in the Fairmount College Dean's Office.
  • She will manage academic issues between students and instructors.
  • Monk-Morgan is a two-time WSU alumnus.

Kaye Monk-Morgan, director of Wichita State’s TRIO Upward Bound Math Science Center for 20 years, will join the Fairmount College Dean’s Office as assistant dean for students, effective Nov. 6.

In this new assignment, Monk-Morgan will manage academic issues between students and instructors, including grade appeals and plagiarism; serve as the liaison between Fairmount College and the Office of Admissions; and oversee and advise LAS student organizations, including the Fairmount College Student Advisory Council.

She will also work with other WSU colleges and the Fairmount Center for Science and Math Education on STEM recruitment; oversee recruitment and retention activities for Fairmount College; and serve as liaison with Wichita State’s 10 TRIO programs.

“I am excited to join the administrative team in Fairmount College,” Monk-Morgan said. “As a two-time alumnus, I understand the pivotal role the college plays in the life of the university, and I look forward to continued service to students.”

Monk-Morgan began her career at Wichita State in 1993 as a residence hall director in Fairmount Towers. Since that time, she has held other positions on campus including community college coordinator for the Office of Admissions, director of the TRIO Upward Bound Math Science Center and acting dean of students for the division of student affairs. She also worked for a brief period in the community as the AmeriCorps director of the Neighborhood Freedom Corps.

Monk-Morgan holds two degrees from Wichita State: a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in higher education and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry / business. She recently completed a graduate certificate in higher education.
