Transferring to a new university doesn’t have to be a harrowing experience. It's never been easier.
 

2. Caffeine is available at every corner

As of spring 2018, the WSU campus is home to five different coffee shops, including two new full-service Starbucks. Prefer something local? Campus is also home to Groundhouse, Credo Coffee Shop and Fairmount Coffee Co.

3. Transfer students can get free money for school

…through scholarships, of course. The Transfer Merit Scholarship is specifically for new, incoming domestic transfer students who are planning to enroll full-time in the fall. Students can receive up to $3,000 depending on their transfer GPA. Don’t just stop there, WSU offers multitudes of major-specific scholarships, as well as federal aid. 

4. Our mascot is the best in the NCAA

If being unique is something that’s important to you, look no further than the current “Best Mascot of the NCAA”, WuShock. The feisty bundle of wheat got his name from the Wichita State - then Fairmount College - football manager. He chose the name because many of the players earned money during the off season harvesting, or “shocking,” wheat in the surrounding fields. Wu is truly one-of-a-kind.

5. Wichita State is in the heart of Kansas’ biggest city

Wichita offers all the amenities of a big city with a friendly, small-town feel. The city is home to multiple foodie destinations and is on Alton Brown’s list of favorite cities to visit. The Douglas Design District and Final Friday allow Wichitans to unleash their inner creative. There is no limit to the number of activities, attractions, restaurants and nightlife available in Wichita.

6. Our athletic teams are awesome, and you can watch them for free

Wichita State has everything from nationally ranked basketball and volleyball teams to our 20-time national championship winning bowling team. Students can get a free ticket to cheer on their fellow Shockers, but if you want more than pure entertainment, join the official fan club, Shocker Maniacs. Earn points by going to events, and cash those points in for cool prizes and experiences.

7. Our campus housing is nice, new and super convenient

Gone are the days of living in a dorm room that was built over half a century ago. WSU now offers two on-campus housing options, Shocker Hall and The Flats. These state-of-the-art facilities come fully furnished and are conveniently located within walking distance of classes.

8. Businesses on campus give students tons of internship opportunities

…and the list keeps growing! Airbus, Dassault, Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas, Hexagon and the Law Enforcement Training Center all call this campus home. Each business works closely with students to provide internships, on-the-job training and the ever important experience that they can’t get from a classroom setting.
