Wichita State University has ranked as one of the top in the nation for its online bachelor’s degree in early childhood unified/elementary education.

The rankings were released by SR Education Group as part of the 2018 Best Online Colleges for Value report.

WSU ranked No. 20 – within the first year the online bachelor’s of education has been ranked.

For the ranking, SR Education Group researched and analyzed accredited online schools across the nation, taking into consideration academic strength factors as well as annual tuition rates.

Inclusion on the list shows high academic standards and a commitment to affordability, two key factors important to prospective students. The schools listed represent the best value option for students.

Shirley Lefever, dean of WSU’s College of Education, says the fact the program was ranked No. 20 within the first year of implementation is validation of the program’s merit.

The Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP), was launched in August 2017 to address school districts’ needs to fill elementary classroom vacancies.

“We attribute much of the program’s success to our ability to provide a program for para educators that allows them to stay employed in their school district and to receive individual support from admission to graduation,” Lefever says.
