Harvester Arts interns build creative float for Riverfest

Wichita State studio art major Mary Alexis Wirths is spending her summer interning with Harvester Arts, a nonprofit organization that brings artists from across the nation for two-week residencies in Wichita.

She and her fellow interns were tasked with creating an unique float for the 2018 Riverfest Parade with resident artist Jooyoung Choi. Together they used bright colors and puppets to build an imaginative float, showcasing Choi's work.

Choi is a multimedia artist whose artwork tells the story of a highly-structured, expansive fictional land called the 'Cosmic Womb'. She brought her colorful puppets and imaginative ideas to the 2018 Wichita Riverfest as the featured artist-in-residence.
