NPR's Carl Kasell coming to Wichita

On Tuesday, April 6, KMUW 89.1 Wichita Public Radio will welcome Carl Kasell to Wichita.

Kasell, a veteran broadcaster whose career spans more than 50 years, is the official judge and scorekeeper for National Public Radio’s weekly news quiz show “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” It is KMUW’s highest ranked show.

For 30 years, Kasell provided newscasts for NPR’s daily news magazine, “Morning Edition.”

Kasell will take part in several events while in Wichita. At 2 p.m. he will speak to Wichita State University students in 215-217 Rhatigan Student Center. The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are needed.

At 6:30 p.m. there will be a by-invitation-only VIP reception held at Century II. WSU Provost Gary L. Miller and his wife, Georgia, will serve as hosts.

The main event of the day, Kasell’s lecture, is at 7:45 p.m. in Century II’s Mary Jane Teall Theater. Open to the public, tickets are $10 and can be reserved at www.kmuw.org.

Anyone who makes a pledge to KMUW by noon Tuesday, April 6, will be entered to win Kasell’s voice on a home answering machine.
