Pepsi and Wichita State ink second 10-year agreement

Ten years ago, the Pepsi Bottling Group and Wichita State University entered into an agreement giving PBG exclusive rights to sell Pepsi-Cola products at all WSU facilities. Recently the two parties made a new 10-year agreement, effective July 1.

In return, WSU will receive about $3 million in cash, product and promotional support over the length of the contract.

"The university's relationship with Pepsi during the last 10 years has been excellent," said Ted Ayres, vice president and general counsel at WSU. "Pepsi was very interested in continuing the relationship, and we feel that it is in the best interest of WSU to proceed with another 10 years of working with Pepsi. This business relationship has been and will continue to be beneficial to our students, faculty and staff."

"Pepsi has thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with Wichita State University and the surrounding community over the last decade and we look forward to continuing this relationship for years to come," said Joe Schuler, vice president and general manager of Pepsi Beverages Co. "Our involvement with the university goes well beyond the selling of our beverages on campus … we strive to add value and enhance the WSU experience through programs benefiting WSU's student's faculty, and staff, as well as providing ongoing support for both Shocker athletics and campuswide sustainability efforts."

Pepsi has had an agreement with WSU since 1994. This support has provided direct and indirect benefits to the university and athletics.
