Learn how to use your telescope at the Lake Afton Observatory

The Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers, is hosting a series of free evening workshops called “Bring Your Own Telescope” (BYOT) that will show you how to get the most out of your telescope.

The first workshop is at 9 p.m. Friday, July 16, on the observing pad behind the observatory building. Bring your telescopes and get all the advice and guidance you need to start making the most of your telescope.

Visitors considering buying a telescope can also attend the event to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of different types of scopes.

The next BYOT event is at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the same location.

The Lake Afton Public Observatory is operated by the Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education, a part of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wichita State University.
