WSU has free tickets to 'Heinavanker' available for students

For the Wichita State University performance of renowned Estonian choral ensemble “Heinavanker” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in Wiedemann Recital Hall, students with identification will get in free.

The College of Fine Arts School of Music event carries a $20 ticket price for the general public, with discounts available. Funding for the free student tickets comes through the Sam and Rie Bloomfield Foundation.

Heinavanker (the Haywain) is an early music vocal ensemble from Tallinn, Estonia. The ensemble is named after the famous altarpiece of Hieronymos Bosch (1453-1516) and has been performing together since 1996.

The repertoire of Heinavanker is made up of two principal styles: the Estonian folk hymns and the early polyphonic music. The group has performed in many music festivals in Europe and the United States, and this is their third concert tour in the states.

Ticket prices are $20 for general public, $18 for senior citizens, military and WSU faculty and staff, and free for students/children.
