Wichita, Arkansas schools claim Kansas BEST titles

Wichita HomeSchool won the BEST Award and Ambassadors for Christ Academy (Bentonville, Ark.) won the Game Award at the 12th annual Kansas BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) event at Wichita State University today (Saturday, Oct. 23). BEST is designed to inspire and motivate students toward careers in engineering, science and technology.

By winning the competition, Wichita HomeSchool and Ambassadors for Christ Academy qualify for the regional competition at Frontier Trails BEST in Fort Smith, Ark., Dec. 10-11.

Also qualifying for the regional competition are Circle High School for finishing second in the BEST Award and Kansas City Christian for finishing second in the Game Award.

The BEST Award is based on a project notebook, oral presentation, table display, interviews, and overall spirit and sportsmanship. The Game Award is based on the robot scoring points in the game competition.

The winning teams will each receive a $2,500 stipend toward traveling expenses to compete in the regional competition.
