GlenMaye named associate provost at Wichita State University

Wichita State University recently named Linnea GlenMaye as associate provost for administration and outreach in the Office of Academic Affairs and Research. The appointment was effective Jan. 22.

The position was previously held by Keith Pickus, who became interim provost in June 2011.

“Having originally appointed Dr. GlenMaye through the emergency hire process, I felt that it was important to conduct an internal search to provide stability at this position during this period of transition,” said interim provost Keith Pickus. “Linnea brings a set of skills and experience to the position that have already proven to be invaluable.”

As associate provost, GlenMaye’s responsibilities will include faculty/personnel issues, student issues and serving as WSU’s representative to the Kansas Board of Regents Transfer and Articulation Advisory Council.

“I am excited and honored to be part of the Provost’s Office,” said GlenMaye. “One of my major priorities this year is to strengthen our university’s relationship with Kansas community colleges. I am looking forward to working closely with faculty and advisers to explore ways to improve the transfer process for Kansas students.”

GlenMaye received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. She earned her Master of Social Work and Ph.D. in Social Welfare from the University of Washington.

Before her appointment as associate provost, GlenMaye was director of the School of Social Work at Wichita State, where she contributed toward the development and accreditation of the Master of Social Work program.
