New WSU social media campaign will focus on students' experiences

Wichita State University’s Office of University Relations is rolling out a new social media campaign as part of WSU’s ongoing brand marketing effort.

The campaign, which will run Aug. 1-Oct. 31, centers on the distinctive experience-based learning Wichita State provides.

Students and alumni will be invited to engage on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, with the hashtag #WSUexperience, to share what they have learned in their new careers, current internships or other job-related experiences in their field of study.

Posts and pictures by students and alumni will be streamed daily in upcoming ads that will run on a number of online advertising networks and digital billboards throughout Wichita.

The goal of the campaign is to show how students and alumni value the experience-based learning opportunities at WSU.

“The best spokespeople for Wichita State’s experience-based learning brand are our students and alumni,” said Barth Hague, WSU’s associate vice president of University Relations and chief marketing officer. “We’re essentially giving them the reins to form our message to prospective students and their families.”

Participants should review their employer’s social media policy before publicly posting about their #WSUexperience.
