'God Particle' to be discussed at international physics conference

Media are invited to the 10th International Conference on Hyperons, Charm and Beauty Hadrons – a particle physics conference sponsored by Wichita State University’s physics department – Monday through Saturday, July 23-28 at the Hyatt Regency Wichita.

This is the first international conference in the United States since the announcement of the discovery of the Higgs particle on July 4. The Higgs particle is sometimes also referred to as the God particle.

WSU assistant physics professor Holger Meyer will give a talk featuring this discovery at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, followed by a question-and-answer media session with a panel of physicists at approximately 5:45 p.m.
