Teachers invited to workshop hosted by WSU, NASA

NASA and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Wichita State University are sponsoring a free workshop designed for K-5 teachers and pre-service teachers.

The workshop is from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 5015 E. 29th St. N.

Registration is required to attend the workshop, "Lift Off Your Classroom: Using NASA Curriculum to Meet Your Standards." Register by calling Mary Robillard at (316) 978-6863 or e-mail mary.robillard@wichita.edu.

The workshop will feature the session "3, 2, 1 … Liftoff," which uses ISS and rockets for interdisciplinary activities for young learners; "Mission Geography," which implements activity learning and inquiry teaching to meet national geography standards; "The World According to WORF," a distance learning video conference with Johnson Space Center; and "21st Century Explorer," a standards-based program that uses the Web.
