Robert “Bob” Workman has been named director of the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University following a national search. He will assume his new duties Jan. 20, 2013, according to Interim Provost Keith Pickus.

Workman is currently the director of the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, Kan., where he guided the center’s construction and opening. Previously, he was the executive director of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark.

“Bob brings a wealth of experience to this position,” said Pickus, “and he will provide strong leadership for the museum for years to come.”

“This is a great opportunity for me to bring my experience engaging audiences with art to my hometown,” said Workman. “The collections and programs of the Ulrich are a major resource for WSU, Wichita and the surrounding region. It’s an honor for me to join this talented and energetic staff, and its dynamic group of campus and community supporters, to lead the Ulrich in its next period of vibrant growth.”
