Teams representing Kansas BEST dominated the regional competition once again at Frontier Trails BEST competition at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
Wichita Home School won the BEST Award for the second consecutive year, based on a project notebook, oral presentation, table display, interview, robot performance, and overall spirit and sportsmanship. Circle High School finished third.
Wichita Home School also won the game award. Ambassadors for Christ Academy finished third.
Circle High School and Valley Center High School also made the semifinals. Council Grove High School was in the wild card game, but didn’t make it to the semifinals.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel also competed in Frontier Trails BEST for both the Game Award and BEST Award.
Special award winners from the Kansas BEST teams were:
Circle High School – Most elegant robot
Wichita Home School and Ambassadors for Christ Academy – First and second for Founders Award for Creative Design
Wichita Home School won the Top Gun Award for scoring 66 points in one game.
The Kansas representatives qualified for the regional competition by winning the Kansas BEST competition at Wichita State University Nov. 3.
Kansas BEST is coordinated by the WSU College of Engineering and the Kansas BEST steering group.
